Can You Propose?

How do you feel about a woman proposing to a man? For those women out there, would you be comfortable doing so if you truly feel you are ready for marriage?

The Filipina in me still thinks that proposing is still a man's job. For one thing, I'm not even sure if I want to be married so proposing is sort of out of the question at the moment. I will never be comfortable doing the proposal because I am also scared of rejection. Let's leave that task to the men and let's just enjoy the privilege of being the one to say a Yes or a No. =)

Custom T-Shirts Online

I was just talking to an SFC brother last week about getting our own custom shirts made for this coming conference in San Diego but the problem is that the custom t-shirt printers that we know require a certain number of shirts for an order. Most of them do it by the hundreds for bulk printing. Right now, there's only eleven of us in the group so definitely we won't meet the required number of shirts for an order. Unless otherwise we plan to sell the rest of the shirts to other people. Good thing I found this custom t-shirts website CustomT-shirts.com who allows you to design your own unique shirts online. Greatest thing is, you can order just one custom t-shirts per design! This definitely solves our minimum required number of shirts for printing. They even have a design center tool that allows you to choose you shirt, attach a graphic design and then add whatever text you want. It is really easy to use. Their shirts come in different materials, colors, sizes and style. They even customize hats, shoes, bags, buttons, banners, aprons, among many others. These are really great corporate gifts or giveaways during big celebrations and also a very personalized gift for families and friends. Check out their site now and avail of the ongoing Back to School special until August 25th.

Thursday Morning Fix

My officemate brought Dunkin Donuts here in the office for breakfast. Of course, there are only 2 flavors of Dunkin Donuts that I eat: Glazed and Bavarian. This is the first time I had DD here in the US and I am quite disappointed with the bavarian filled donuts here. Tasted different than the one I got used to in the Philippines. =(

Yay... pang-third world talaga tastebuds ko. Haha.

How Honest Should You Be?

How frank should you be with your partner when it comes to your past relationships? How much of the details should you reveal?

I think the key here is don't ask if you're not ready for the answer. If my partner asks me about my relationship, I will tell him as much as he wants to know. If he wants details, then he should ask for it. If he does not ask, I don't have to tell. Right? Right! Of course, if I in the first place got into a relationship with him, most likely he's already accepted me for whatever I was in the past and I do too. Whatever stupidity and shortcomings I've done before should not be an issue with him now. Let bygones be bygones. What matters is the now and the future with him.

Well, I guess he does not have to worry so much about my past anyway. I was not a psychotic, terrorizing bitch to my exes so there's pretty much nothing to worry about. Hehe.

Wordless Wednesday: Poop-capped Islands

On Gifting

Do you think buying gifts is important in a relationship? And do you expect a gift from your partner now and then?

It's not really, really mandatory that you have to buy gifts for your partner. Sometimes it does help spice up a relationship when you do give something *especially when you did something wrong! hehe* but it does not necessarily mean that you have to buy it. I mean, a massage after a very tiring day is a great gift, a hug, a kiss would probably make my day. No, I don't expect gifts from my partner. Although I am honestly guilty of buying stuff for him whenever I do shopping especially when I go on trips abroad. I don't oblige him to do the same thing for me. I think I am a low-maintenance, convenient gf. Haha.

To Confess or Not To Confess?

If you have cheated on your partner, would you confess? But if you are the one being cheated upon, would you prefer your partner to tell or not to tell?

I have learned this the hard way. There are things that I have done in the past that I am not proud of. If you have read some old posts *really old!* here in this blog, I two-timed at one point in my life. I fell in love with somebody else while I was in a relationship. Like I always say, it takes two to tango so it was I and the "other" person to blame for that shortcoming. I think it is still best to confess and admit to your partner that you have cheated rather than your partner finding it out from other people. There's no such thing as a non-hurtful way of breaking a bad news. There's no right timing, there's no better delivery. Cheating is bad, period. As what Newton's 3rd law of motion states, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. *yeah I know, this is so geeky!* When you give that bad news, just be ready for the consequence. Most people will react violently but hopefully it won't come to a point that your partner will mistreat you physically.

If I was the one being cheated upon, I would appreciate if my partner tells me. Honestly, I have trust issues so if that person betrays me, it would be very difficult for me to forgive and forget. I am usually the one who walks away. Oh yes, this happened to me too. Karma? Yeah, perhaps! Haha.

Does Appearance Matter?

Hoookay... it's one of those L-O-V-E related questions once again. I am bored! Yeah, after 3 months of drowning from too much work to do, I am at this "petiks-mode" again at work. FYI, if you are in IT, you have this SDLC *software development life-cycle* process and when you're in the UAT support going to Production go-live, this is the stage wherein you just wait for something to go wrong and pray hard that nothing explodes before go-live so you have a lot of free time to surf, play online games, blog or blog hop. Hehe. This cycle goes around every quarter so that means every three months, I get to have this one-week-er free time. *grin* Anyway, I got this question from a blogger friend's site:

Does appearance matter in a relationship? Should you always try to look your best for your date?

I hate to admit it but I think appearance DOES matter. For men especially, it surely DOES! Physical attraction usually comes first before the emotional and intellectual connection occurs. I am definitely attracted to clean-looking, neatly and appropriately dressed, good smelling men. *yeah, i love smelling them! haha!* Although sometimes if the guy fails in looking good the first time, I still try to give him a chance the second time and if he really, really is intellectually stimulating *nothing sexual here ok?!*, then a third chance could be a possibility. I like smart men and if he is not intimidated by me, all the better! I try to look my best in a date. Especially I know that men are initially *take note of this word before you react!* attracted to more physically attractive women. I am not saying that it's ALL that men are looking at, I just think that INITIALLY, that's what they look at most of the time before they realize you have an awesome brain and a caring heart! So when you're already in a relationship, I think dressing up, trying to look good and being attractive in the eyes of your partner adds to the confidence within you and I personally feel good about myself.

I Want to See New York!

I have always wanted to see New York. Based on the stories from friends who have been there and the photos that I have seen, there are numerous things to see and to do in the city that never sleeps. I have seen a lot of movies filmed and based in New York and inspite of the 9/11 incident, I will always be dreaming of seeing that city.

www.FamilyinNewYork.com provides an awesome deal if you want a tour of New York. What I like about Family In New York tours is that they personalize and customize sightseeing tours of the city based on what the visitor wants to experience. I guess having done a lot of traveling in the past, I would prefer a guided tour that will allow me to take photos of the sight, do some side shopping, hop on and off the bus without always having to hurry up just like what guided tours are commonly like, and totally experience how it is to be a New Yorker. Another nice thing about FamilyInNewYork is that their prices are not per person but for the whole tour. Which means that if you are traveling with family and friends, the cheaper and more affordable it is. I would really love to spend a few days in New York if only I could just free up my schedule... maybe next year. =)

Marriage... Yay!

A blogging friend posted this question and I wanted to share my two cents on the matter...

Is the idea of marriage outdated?

I don't think it is. The fact that a lot of my friends have gotten married or are getting married soon, I think marriage is still honored as a binding contract between two individuals. I know that for a long time I sort of stopped believing in marriage. Probably because I have seen a lot of broken marriages and I have seen how difficult it was to stay married when two people stop loving each other. For a long time I believed that when a couple is bound to separate, no laws nor papers can stop them from drifting from each other. I guess divorce and annulment just makes it easier for both parties to separate in a lawful way. Had my parents gone through the same dilemma of a non-working marriage, I would rather see them separated than endure each day seeing them fighting and shouting at each other. Don't get me wrong... I still believe in falling in love, holding hands, saying iloveyou's and finding the right one. Part of me still believe in marriage per se but I don't think I will be ready to jump into that next level of a relationship... not soon! Well, I would probably know when the right one comes along when he's able to change my belief in marriage and that he is able to make me WANT to get married. Then he must be the ONE.

Get a Free Book!

Next month is the start of the "ber" months. This is a sign that Christmas is fast approaching. I remember when I was in Manila, this time of the year is my most dreaded time because of the worst traffic in Makati area. My office is near the big malls in Makati so imagine what I have to go through everyday especially in the evening just to get home. This also meant thousands of people in the malls and although I enjoy shopping, I would probably skip it that time of the year because malls become too crowded. I guess, living here in the US would probably change a lot of my usual holiday season shopping. All of my immediate family lives in Manila so I would probably have to settle sending them Christmas cards.

GalleryCollection.com, the leading Business Christmas Cards company is sponsporing a free ebook, College Knowledge: 101 Tips. This book can be received by visiting Dailylit.com's website. You will receive the ebook in a form of emails containing part of the book so it is convenient to read just like when you check you emails daily. This book is a good reference for aspiring college students on how they can effectively transition from high school to college. The book is made available for free until September 30, 2008 by the generous support of GalleryCollection.com, a great site for getting your Corporate Holiday Cards.

Rear Windshield Wiper for Lexus Sportcross

I just have to rant about this. Since Lexus have stopped manufacturing Sportcrosses *wagon/hatchback type cars*, it's so difficult to find replacement parts now for these types of cars. My rear wiper blade's rubber finally gave up and I've been looking for a replacement rubber since last week. If you do a search online, you probably won't find any online store that sells rear wiper blades for IS300 Sportcrosses. Grrrrr! So that means I have to go to the dealership again to order this and have it mounted. I am so sure that will cost me more than let's say get a replacement part from Walmart or Autozone and have a friend mount it. Hayyyy... Worse comes to worse, if I don't find a replacement rubber, I will take Kimi to the dealership.

Happy Birthday Rose!

Last night I attended a 19th birthday celebration of a friend, the younger sister of another SFC here in AZ. The party crowd was young as expected. Most of them are 5-9 years younger than I was. It's just amazing how much fun you can still have with these younger generation. I mean, I've been going out mostly with people around my age and older *wayyyyy older!* and it's a nice change. I think this is the first time in years that I attended a party without booze and what's amazing is that I still had a lot of fun. These kids *this is how I fondly call those younger generation* sure know how to rock a party! Good clean and wholesome fun! =) Even if they did try to guess what my real age is, which by the way they thought I was just 23 years old *Haaaa!* I really didn't feel too old hanging out with them. Even if I did felt the age gap physically, at least I still felt that I was a kid at heart.

How to Save a Life

Regularly, women shed off her uterine lining in the form of menstruation. Menstruation is a part of the menstrual cycle which prepares a woman for pregnancy. In early western cultures, it was believed that menstruation is something evil and women who have their period were believed to be dangerous. Nowadays, stem cells can be harvested from menstrual fluids. Typically, menstrual blood is just discarded as unsanitary waste but because of the many advancements in research for stem cells, C'elle was able to turn this body waste into good use.

Stem cell research has always been a debatable topic in terms of the morality of how it is being harvested. When stem cell research started, they used human embryos to harvest stem cells from but nowadays, there are varied ways on how to harvest this without harming anybody. Stem cells are the basic cells of our body which has the ability to develop many different cell types. It acts as the repair system of the human body wherein it is able to replenish other damaged cells.

Continuous research is being done with stem cells. Its ability to regenerate and replenish damaged cells can potentially be the cure for terminal illnesses that we have nowadays such as Alzheimer's disease. Inspite of the technological and medical advancements that we have nowadays, there are still diseases that are deemed to be incurable and it's painful to know that each day, there is a new disease that comes out because of the effects of our evolving lifestyle and way of living as humans. Knowing that stem cells can be our hope in finding a cure to these terminal diseases, I guess we should encourage people to support this research for as long as the government will protect the morality of how these cells are being harvested.

C'elle kit has an easy-to-follow procedure that will allow women to preserve stem cells until such time it will be needed for medical procedures. With this preservation procedure, we are assured that if a serious medical condition happens to the donor or her family members, they can all avail of the regenerative therapies out there using stem cells. If you are given a chance to save a family member's life, I don't think you would ever pass-up that opportunity. If you want to know more about this technology, watch C'elle Client Testimonial from their website.

Love Is...

A friend sent an sms asking this question... what does loving one another mean to you?

Here's my answer:

Loving one another is sharing yourself to others. It is embracing each others flaws and shortcomings but continuously striving to be the best person you can be. Writer Leo Buscaglia probably gave the best definition of love that I can relate to.

"Love is always bestowed as a gift - freely, willingly and without expectation. We don't love to be loved; we love to love."
- Leo Buscaglia

For people who are living a semi-mobile lifestyle because of a job or any other personal reason, it is very difficult to move your entire home to a new country. Feeling Old at Twenty-Something

Hanging out with people who are 5 to 10 years younger than I am...

1. Made me feel I was so old
- Most of the stuff they talk about are beyond my knowledge. Hello generation gap! Though they were fun to listen to because I sort of learn what their age group is into.

2. Made me feel respected
- As they often say, authority comes with age. Besides the "po" and "opo" *which is a sign of respect for older people in the Philippines* I kept getting from them, hanging out with them made me feel this sense of authority and they do listen to my opinion. Haaa!

3. Has its perks
- Since most of them are still in school and bought their movie tickets ahead of me, I also got a student discount. Bwahahaha! Hookay! Good thing the vendor in Harkins theater did not ask for my school ID and of course, my face value which I am so thankful for. Haha. Yeah, I have proven a fact that Asians do look younger! That was a $3 off my regular movie ticket!

4. Made me feel more responsible
- Being an elder in the group *yay!* made me feel that I should be more careful with my words and actions because I want to set a good example to these kids.

It was a good, clean and wholesome fun hanging out with these kids. It's great to find Pinoys born and raised here in the US who still has their Pinoy values intact. Knowing how liberated the way of thinking of people here are, it gives me a sense of security that I can also raise kids here who will have pinoy values. And I strongly believe that that's how pinoy kids should be raised wherever they are in the world.

Lexus Annual Sales Event

I was checking out this Lexus dealership near my condo and found this...

Yep! Their annual sales event is up. I know I cannot afford a new car right now. Much more a new IS. =( I also checked out how much the 2008 IS350 costs now and it's around 37k++. If I get it financed for 48 months, I will be paying roughly around $700/month. Yay! Expensive! I think Im going to settle with Kimi for now. Hehe. As always, Maroon 5 dominated my playlist. I absolutely adore the "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" album. This album did not sound like the standard Maroon 5 albums they had in the past. The songs are more upbeat and errr... mushy. Haha. Still loving it after more than 7 months in my playlist. =)
